07.28.2007: Hali's Baby Shower

This past Saturday, I hosted my first baby shower ever! It was for Hali (my other pregnant sister and business partner!) and Sophia An :) Since it was my first shower and Hali is expecting a girl, I wanted it to be perfect, girly, chic and definitely very pink! So a mixed Parisian Princess theme was set and invites went out asking everyone to come dressed in black/white/pink. Let me tell you something - apparently I am a Baby Shower Nazi. I had extra black/white/pink clothes in case guests didn't show up appropriately dressed - or I had decided that I may turn them away if they didn't follow the dress code. HA HA HA. Luckily, I didn't have to do either since everyone got into the spirit of the shower and looked sooo chic and perfect :) So the goal of the baby shower for was to keep everyone active and doing something the entire time. Right when guests came in, I had their plates set up with clothespin with their name and team name on it. Each guests wore the clothespin - which served as a name tag, team tag, and also if they said the prohibitive word "baby" then one of the other guests (if they overheard it) can snatch it and they will be eliminated from the "no baby" game. There were also the "Wishboard" where guests/teams were invited to write advices/wishes to the parents - and the team who gave the most advice won the team point. Guests/teams decorated onesies for Sophia An (the papa-to-be selected the winner) - this idea was courtesy of a Gilmore Girl episode. Of course the baby food tasting game - with a twist of putting the baby food inside of a diaper. We also hung baby clothes up to serve double duty as cute decoration - and also the teams guessed the sizes of the baby clothes. Finally, the game that got everyone riled up! I had previously asked the proud papa about 15 questions. Hali had to answer how she thought the proud papa would answer. Each team took turns asking her the questions and they had the option to accept/reject her answer if they thought they knew the answer. The mommies to be won this game - and surprisingly the team that had all of the papa-to-be's sisters on the team - GOT NO ANSWERS correct. Shameful. Anyways, now that we got all the non-wedding business out of the way - we will be back with shooting WEDDINGS in FULL FORCE!!! And I HEART the diaper cake we made!!!

Pink Posh Maternity: Jeri

Guess who got knocked up??!!! My sister :) Actually, sister"s." That's right. I have two pregnant sisters right now. Hali and Jeri! This past Saturday I was in Dallas for Hali's baby shower (I hosted the shower and I will post some pictures from that event later!) The morning of the baby shower, Jeri and I went out to Los Colinas for a quick maternity session. :) We're planning another shoot on the beach in a few months when her tummy is a little bigger! Don't you just love pregnancy?? It's the only time when you don't have to keep on sucking in your stomach for pictures!!! :)

07.23.2007: Keith and Audrey's Engagement

Congratulations to Keith and Audrey!!! They are getting married at the end of October (which means Halloween - I'm going dressed as a photographer. :oP). I met up with them down at Lake Austin yesterday - yes, during the rain and lightning storm. I can't believe they let me take their pictures in the middle of a lightning storm - while sitting on a blue metal chair - on a long pier - in the middle of a lake. I zoomed in with my telephoto lens in case lightning struck...just kidding - although I did stay a few feet away from them - it's dangerous out there! Anyways, the neat coincidence that I have with Keith and Audrey is that Keith's younger brother attended the same film school as I did! My alma mater really isn't that big - so to meet someone in Texas who even knew the name of the university is usually a long shot - so I knew we were going to hit it off! :) Plus, to top it off, it's not everyday that I get a couple that will let me put them in mortal danger... not to mention "snakes"; possible tetanus infection; stones falling and crushing their foot; big, red stinky trash containers; and jumping barefoot in the rain! I can't wait to see what you guys will let me do at your wedding :)

Pink Posh Brides: Heather

Today ROCKED! Rob if you are reading this - I have something to say to you. "Rob, Rob, go away. Come again another day." Come back in late September :) No really. Today was Heather's bridal session - and I'm posting it. She assures me that her fiance would never even think about going on any website to look for pictures - which is fine by me, because I couldn't wait to share the images that we shot today for her bridals. As with the past few shoots this week, I had no idea what we would be doing, going, or even what time we were shooting at...ha ha ha - that's how prepared I am. :) Plus, the rain didn't help because that limited us to indoor venues only. Except, we didn't have one. The predictable thing to do would be to rescheduled - but my Pink Posh couples know it takes ALOT of rain and flooding to get me to reschedule something. But we worked it out with some last minute brainstorming and with a phone call that got us totally hooked up :oP. Actually, we've been getting hooked up all week with some sweet locations! So, as if finding the perfect place for bridals wasn't enough, Heather showed up looking gorgeous in a Monique Lhuillier lace gown. AND...as if the day couldn't get any better - Heather pulled out her veil and I seriously starting squealing. French net!! Did I mentioned yet that today rocked??!! Heather, thanks for being soooo lovely, goofy, fun and for listening to all my suggestions and just trusting me today! See you guys in September!! :) (P.S. For those who are wondering - Hues by Heather did the makeup).

07.16.2007: Robert and Jennifer's Engagement

Congratulations to Robert and Jennifer!!!! Like Nicole and Michael, I first met them June 2006 for their November 2007 wedding. Yups, over a year in advance. (Wait until you guys find out who booked us two years in advance). Well, Robert and Jennifer are getting married in November...on my husband's birthday actually...and it's the bestest date ever (or so I've been told)... :) We started the shoot around the Post Oak area - where Robert mentioned he was really nervous about the entire shoot - he's nervous??? I'M NERVOUS hoping the pictures come out :oP. J/K (I do have an idea of what I'm doing...sorta/kinda) Afterwards, we headed downtown to a "secret" location where I'm never ever allowed to take anyone else there. So don't even ask me where this so-called "area-51" is...(although, its hardly hidden, seeing as it's visible from the freeway!) And at this area-51, it was overrun by ducks. I mean big ducks, little ducks, and baby ducks. When they saw us, about 10 came from the north, more came from the south, and then some baby ducks from the east. So, this place is not ideal for me...seeing as I am not particularly fond of birds (I blame it on Mr. Hitchcock and an virtually unknown film about birds that we were forced to watch in film school.) But folks, I sucked it up and we hung around there for about half an hour (as reported by the meter maid) and even got some pics with the ducks in sight - actually they wouldn't leave us alone, so they had to be included. So at the end of the night, I asked Robert if he was still nervous and he mentioned that he could go for another round. Sweet. He'll have to in November :) Robert and Jennifer, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Monday evening :) And Jennifer, you've spoiled me. You made it wayyyy too easy for me :) See you in August :)
