07.28.2007: Hali's Baby Shower

This past Saturday, I hosted my first baby shower ever! It was for Hali (my other pregnant sister and business partner!) and Sophia An :) Since it was my first shower and Hali is expecting a girl, I wanted it to be perfect, girly, chic and definitely very pink! So a mixed Parisian Princess theme was set and invites went out asking everyone to come dressed in black/white/pink. Let me tell you something - apparently I am a Baby Shower Nazi. I had extra black/white/pink clothes in case guests didn't show up appropriately dressed - or I had decided that I may turn them away if they didn't follow the dress code. HA HA HA. Luckily, I didn't have to do either since everyone got into the spirit of the shower and looked sooo chic and perfect :) So the goal of the baby shower for was to keep everyone active and doing something the entire time. Right when guests came in, I had their plates set up with clothespin with their name and team name on it. Each guests wore the clothespin - which served as a name tag, team tag, and also if they said the prohibitive word "baby" then one of the other guests (if they overheard it) can snatch it and they will be eliminated from the "no baby" game. There were also the "Wishboard" where guests/teams were invited to write advices/wishes to the parents - and the team who gave the most advice won the team point. Guests/teams decorated onesies for Sophia An (the papa-to-be selected the winner) - this idea was courtesy of a Gilmore Girl episode. Of course the baby food tasting game - with a twist of putting the baby food inside of a diaper. We also hung baby clothes up to serve double duty as cute decoration - and also the teams guessed the sizes of the baby clothes. Finally, the game that got everyone riled up! I had previously asked the proud papa about 15 questions. Hali had to answer how she thought the proud papa would answer. Each team took turns asking her the questions and they had the option to accept/reject her answer if they thought they knew the answer. The mommies to be won this game - and surprisingly the team that had all of the papa-to-be's sisters on the team - GOT NO ANSWERS correct. Shameful. Anyways, now that we got all the non-wedding business out of the way - we will be back with shooting WEDDINGS in FULL FORCE!!! And I HEART the diaper cake we made!!!
